El monstruo de colores - La alegría

Year 1 students are responding to El monstruo de colores by Anna Llenas, a Spanish picture book about emociones (feelings): la alegría (happiness), la tristeza (sadness), la rabia (anger), el miedo (fear) y la calma (you can guess this one!). Starting with la alegría and inspired by the book students identified amarillo (yellow) as the colour y el sol (the sun) as a symbol of happiness. They drew el sol en papel amarillo (yellow paper) and performed a short song using their drawings to enhance the communication of the feeling of happiness.
La alegría es amarilla.
La alegría es el sol.
