Students in grade 1 have been exploring the art of Joan Miró, a very famous Spanish artist born in Barcelona (like me, but a bit earlier! He was born in 1893). Miró loved to use "childish" shapes in his arte abstracto (abstract art), including ojos (eyes), estrellas (stars), la luna (moon), el sol (sun) and many more líneas (lines) and formas (shapes). . You can learn more about this artist here: http://www.fmirobcn.org/en/
Our students have been studying Miró's symbols to prepare for a collaborative piece, where all students in grade 1 will take part. For our final piece we are using ink and coloured pencils. Have a look at our splendid work so far!
