Mosaics!

Grade 6 students have started their individual mosaics, inspired by the art of Spanish architect Gaudí. Gaudí was always inspired by nature, and in the same way, students picked a simple design from nature. For most students it is the first time they have tried this technique, so we made some individual mosaics before venturing for our bigger collaborative project (stay tunned!). Students have learnt to break the tiles (oh how much they enjoyed that...!) and place them leaving even distances in between, use tile adhesive to glue them onto their square tile and finally use grout to fill the spaces in between. The mosaics are already looking great!
